Proper way to clean a vintage book pot

And then I finally picked up a canteen of Deoxit D5 today. I have a few pots that crepitation, some on my old Marshall and the volume pot on my sometime strat. Practise I actually need to buy the little applicator doodad from Stew Mac or tin I just let information technology carefully run downward the shaft of the pot? Or do I really have to take the selection guard off and spray from the back?

I accept tried both ways. All-time upshot past far is to spray them inside the housing where the soldering lugs are attached. The downside is that y'all accept to take the pickguard of which is a bunmer if it has a vintage i with shrinkage You lot can get lucky just spraying downwards the shaft only nigh likely the trouble will return pretty soon and y'all have no control of what goes down in the crenel. Deoxit is very effective though

I concluded upward only using a bunch of Kleenex wrapped around the shaft without taking the pickguard off. Two quick pushes from the bottle of Deoxit D5. Worked like a amuse. No more crackles on the almost 60 year old pot.

Yes, hope it lasts for a while. Works like magic actually! I've tried a lot of electronic washer sprays merely zippo works as good equally Deoxit. Don't forget to exercise the pots! The "non crepitation" consequence will final much loinger
